Security and identity solutions company IDEMIA is celebrating a new milestone with the announcement of the 11 millionth enrollment for the PreCheck expedited screening program.
The Transportation Security Administration’s TSA PreCheck program allows eligible passengers to use IDEMIA’s technology to register their personal and biometric information prior to going to the airport in order to facilitate a faster check-in process.
In doing so, PreCheck participants are able to move through various airport security checkpoints faster than non-program members, with the TSA claiming that 94 percent of PreCheck participants are able to pass through their designated lanes — which currently number at more than 450 lanes in over 200 airports around the US — in under five minutes.
PreCheck members are also not required to remove their shoes, belts, 3-1-1 liquids, food or light jackets, while children under the age of 12 years old are able to join a parent or guardian in a dedicated lane.
IDEMIA’s more than 440 enrollments centers, along with various pop-up enrollment events located throughout the United States, have helped support the growth of the TSA PreCheck program and boost its total enrollment numbers to help it get to 11 million.
“The 11 million enrollment milestone exemplifies IDEMIA’s continued success and commitment in passenger facilitation solutions,” said Donnie Scott, CEO of IDEMIA I&S North America. “In the midst of the ongoing trend of increased air travel, IDEMIA aims to increase enrollments and help travelers prepare for their next airport experience at one of our enrollment facilities or at our pop-up enrollment events.”
