Five More Airlines Join the TSA’s PreCheck Program

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has added five new airlines to the PreCheck expedited screening program. PreCheck passengers flying with Austrian Airlines, Swoop, PAL Express, VivaAerobus, and Interjet will now be able to move through the airport without removing their shoes or taking out their laptops.

The TSA’s PreCheck program allows eligible passengers to register their personal and biometric information before they get to the airport. Doing so allows them to move through security checkpoints more quickly, with the TSA claiming that 94 percent of participants have passed through the designated PreCheck lanes in less than five minutes.

With the five new additions, there are now more than 70 airlines participating in the PreCheck program. That represents considerable growth considering that there were only 54 airlines in the program roughly a year ago. The program itself is supported at more than 200 airports in the US, with Montana’s Helena Regional Airport standing as the most recent hub to introduce PreCheck screenings during peak hours.

The TSA has been encouraging more passengers to sign up for PreCheck screening with a series of pop-up enrollment centers over the past few years. A five-year PreCheck membership goes for $85.
