The City of Charlotte has partnered with Telos Corporation to conduct background checks for workers at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). Telos’ Designated Aviation Channeling (DAC) services have proven to be quite popular with airport operators throughout the US, with the Philadelphia, Denver, and Seattle airports having all renewed their contracts with Telos within the past 12 months.
Charlotte Douglas is now the latest addition to Telos’ growing list of airport customers. The company’s DAC service boasts Transportation Security Administration (TSA) accreditation, and allows clients to submit the biometric and biographic data of potential hires before giving them clearance to work in secure airport facilities. Those background checks are mandated by the TSA, while the web-based DAC itself is encrypted to meet Department of Homeland Security data protection requirements for businesses that handle people’s personal information.
According to Telos, the DAC was built to be user-friendly, and can be configured based on the needs of different organizations. Ninety airports are now using the service, with Fresno Yosemite International Airport joining CLT as another of Telos’ most recent partners. Fresno Yosemite signed with Telos in February, and services the San Joaquin Valley in addition to the Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon national parks.
“The DAC deployment at Charlotte Douglas is notable for its integration with CLT’s Identity Management System, enabling efficient biographic and biometric transmissions,” said Telos Aviation Security VP Dawn Lucini. “We have streamlined the aviation worker background check process, while upholding the high security and customer service standards at CLT. We are pleased to support the City of Charlotte in their efforts to provide excellence in credentialing and vetting services, while reducing costs and providing superior customer care and flexibility.”
Telos received FINRA certification under the Electronic Fingerprint Submission program in 2019. Office Depot is one of the company’s most prominent customers outside the air travel industry.
