TECH5 has submitted its fingerprint and iris recognition algorithms to certain National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) evaluation programs for the first time, and has attained impressive results.
In the NIST IREX 10 evaluation program, which assesses iris recognition systems in one-to-many applications, TECH5’s algorithm demonstrated the highest matching speed among all vendors.
Its fingerprint recognition technology delivered an even better performance, in NIST’s Proprietary Fingerprint Template (PFT) III program, which evaluates the performance of fingerprint matching tech in civil ID and border control ABIS applications. TECH5’s solution was the fastest and most accurate – 400 percent faster than the runner-up, and with a 66 percent lower error rate, the company says.
“We are constantly investing in AI-based approaches in research for all three key biometric modalities under TECH5’s umbrella – face, fingerprint, and iris – and recent results are clearly showing the benefits,” commented TECH5 co-founder, CTO, and Chairman Rahul Parthe. “We have ambitious plans to solidify our leading positions for all three technologies. We are convinced that this is just the beginning, and we will continue improving the algorithms powering our matching platforms with top speed and accuracy.”
On that note, TECH5 says it will submit an enhanced version of its iris recognition algorithm for NIST testing by the end of the year, with the aim of boosting its performance in both accuracy and speed.
While face, fingerprint, and iris biometrics form the core of TECH5’s biometrics platform, the company also recently expanded its portfolio with the integration of voice recognition technology. The latter comes by way of ID R&D, and has been folded into TECH5’s T5-Digital ID solution.
