TECH5 is the latest technology provider to make its solutions available to organizations on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company is specifically offering its touchless and mobile biometric capture technology – in addition to the relevant mobile platforms and SDKs – to other companies that provide essential services to government organizations.
TECH5’s multimodal platform enables touchless face and fingerprint recognition. The technology can be used to maintain strong security without exposing employees to the health risks that go along with shared, contact-based security solutions. TECH5 will be offering its expertise along with its technology, and will help its partners develop and test their applications to deploy them as quickly as possible. If all goes well, the company is hoping that those applications will make workplaces safer once the curve has flattened.
“Mobile applications can help aggregate important data, which may become a fundamental tool for tracking individual cases to keep the overall impact of the disease under control,” said TECH5 CTO Rahul Parthe. “We are aggressively working on technologies for the next critical phase of bringing life back to normal, which is as important as controlling the pandemic.”
In the meantime, several organizations are currently using TECH5 technology to gather information from individual citizens, who can use a standard smartphone to verify their identity and report on their health status and location. The apps provide public health officials with more accurate data, and allow them to make better decisions in response to the pandemic. For example, government officials in the Indian state of Gujrat are using an app from Maharaja Associate to track the spread of the virus in the cities of Ahmedabad and Rajkot.
TECH5 is one of several companies that has highlighted the utility of touchless biometric solutions in the past few weeks, largely because they are more sanitary than contact-based authentication alternatives. MarketsandMarkets has also predicted that the touchless sensing market will more than double in the next five years.
TECH5 recently released a new ID storage app in collaboration with Pepper & Ink.
