TECH5 Highlights COVID-era Benefits of New Biometric Identity Toolkit

TECH5 has launched a new T5 Digital Identity Toolkit geared towards organizations that are looking to upgrade their identity management capabilities. The Toolkit enables the secure capture of biometric face images, as well as biometric matching tech for mobile devices.

The solution also includes enhanced barcode technology that comes courtesy of TECH5’s new partnership with HD Barcode LLC. The two companies signed an exclusive partnership in May that will allow TECH5 to integrate HD Barcode’s 2D barcode tech into its own T5-IDencode platform for biometric applications. T5-IDencode uses a secure high-density barcode to store biometric and personal information. Once created, the Digital ID can be read with a mobile app, and enables offline face and fingerprint authentication.

“The T5-IDencode will combine multi-biometrics, color photograph, and text in our patented 2D barcode technology, all without requiring the use of the Internet or a database,” explained HD Barcode Managing Director Gary Parish.

According to TECH5, the new Toolkit will be particularly useful in the wake of COVID-19, since physical identity documents will have less utility in a remote work environment. The Toolkit, on the other hand, can create secure digital credentials that can be used for a variety of different applications, up to and including immunity credentials.

“We are continuously working on technologies that will facilitate the next critical phase of bringing life back to some level of normalcy,” said TECH5 Co-Founder and CTO Rahul Parthe. “We believe the T5 Digital Identity Toolkit has the potential to become a platform for a true ‘Citizen’s Digital ID’ that is in line with our new, fundamentally digital reality.”

TECH5 indicated that recipients will have full control of the information stored in their ID, and will be able to determine when and how they share their personal information. ID2020 has emphasized the need for privacy when issuing immunity credentials.

TECH5 recently partnered with ID R&D to add passive liveness detection to its facial recognition solution. The company has also offered its touchless biometric solutions to essential organizations that are trying to slow the spread of the pandemic.
