Suprema XPass Q2 Combines Native QR, RFID, and Mobile Credentials in Single Access Reader

Suprema has launched the XPass Q2, a reader that combines native QR code and barcode authentication with RFID card and BLE/NFC mobile credential support in a single unit. The device targets facilities that manage simultaneous populations of employees, visitors, members, and ticket holders, where a single entrance must handle multiple credential types without dedicated lanes or separate hardware for each.

QR codes are now a primary credential in visitor and ticketing environments, distributed as printed passes or mobile screens. XPass Q2 is built around this with a dedicated scanning module optimized for consistent reads across varying lighting conditions and presentation distances, rather than treating QR as a secondary function appended to an RFID-first device. LED indicators and adaptive audio feedback are designed to maintain throughput at high-volume entry points. The device carries an IP65 rating, supporting both indoor lobbies and outdoor gates.

XPass Q2 integrates natively with BioStar X, Suprema’s access management platform, providing unified control over visitor workflows, membership access, and ticketing. Third-party visitor management and ticketing platforms can connect via the BioStar X API, enabling workflows from pre-registration and credential issuance through real-time access logging and compliance reporting. Standard barcode reading extends compatibility with existing ticketing infrastructure. For operators requiring dynamic QR capabilities beyond static codes, CLUe, Suprema’s open cloud integration platform, provides an integration path for a broader range of credential use cases.

“QR codes have become the standard credential for visitors and ticket holders, yet most facilities are still running readers that treat QR as an afterthought,” said Hanchul Kim, CEO of Suprema Inc. “XPass Q2 was designed the other way around delivering the performance and simplicity operators need to confidently manage every user type from a single device.”

The launch follows a period of platform and compliance work at Suprema. The company introduced its cloud-native BioStar Air platform in May 2025, formed a cloud integration partnership with Verkada in July 2025, and earned CE RED cybersecurity certification for its biometric access devices for regulated deployment environments.
