Suprema Strengthens BioStar 2 With Mantech Failsafe Tech

Suprema has partnered with the Korean IT services provider Mantech to make its own BioStar 2 access management solution more stable. To that end, Suprema has integrated the Mantech Continuous Cluster Server (MCCS) with BioStar 2 to minimize the amount of downtime that clients experience in the event of a system failure.

MCCS is a failover system that automatically detects problems within a broader network. If a server or some other bit of infrastructure goes down, then MCCS will immediately jump to a backup system to make sure that all of the services that rely on that system are still running properly. The solution also begins replicating data in real-time to make sure that the client has the most up-to-date information once the broken system is restored.

In doing so, MCCS virtually eliminates the prospect of system downtime. Thanks to the integration, Suprema will be able to provide its clients with more assurances about the reliability of the BioStar system, and deliver a more cost-efficient product. In that regard, the automated features of MCCS allow it to reduce the amount of resources that organizations need to set aside for manual oversight and crisis management.

The CoreStation access control panel that supports BioStar 2 recently picked up formal UL 294 certification. Suprema also unveiled its next-generation BioStation 3 terminal for contactless access control earlier this year. Meanwhile, Omdia listed the company as the top provider of biometric access control outside of the Chinese market at the tail end of 2021.
