Suprema ID has announced a new document reader terminal.
Dubbed “RealPass-N”, the device is capable of reading a range of document types including e-passports and e-visas, thanks to its compliance with the ICAO Doc 9303 specifications for Electronic Machine Readable Travel Documents.
RealPass-N features an RFID reader, an integrated dual RF antenna, and image enhancement capabilities including anti-glare image acquisition. It also offers multiple wavelength illumination via the RealPass Software Development Kit.
The device is designed for easy integration into self-service kiosks, counters, and e-gates.
In a statement announcing RealPass-N, Suprema ID CEO Bogun Park said the device offers customers “a great option for their automated document reading requirements at competitive price,” adding that it offers applications in “border control & immigration, airport security, hotel, casino, banking, travel and any other industries that require accurate and reliable document reading.”
The solution’s announcement comes soon after the news that Suprema ID’s BM-Slim3 fingerprint module had been integrated into a new biometric handheld device from France-based Coppernic. Suprema ID is well-known for its biometric solutions, but the addition of its sleek new document reading module to its portfolio should help to further raise the company’s profile in the overall authentication industry.
