Suprema reaffirmed its commitment to contactless technologies at its 2022 Global Partner Summit on January 11. The company noted that the demand for its facial recognition products skyrocketed in the wake of COVID-19, to the point that the compound annual growth for its face-based access control solutions was triple that of the average vendor between 2018 and 2021.
Now Suprema is looking to build on that success moving forward. At the Summit, the company placed a particular emphasis on its BioStar 2 Access Control Platform, and on mobile access solutions through its MOCA System subsidiary. With regards to the former, Suprema is planning to update BioStar 2 to make the platform more user-friendly in a way that will make it easier to scale. The company also plans to add new cloud services and extend support for new kinds of authentication credentials.
MOCA, meanwhile, is responsible for the Airfob Space and the Airfob Patch solutions. The Patch can be added to a legacy RF card reader to give that reader the ability to scan digital credentials stored on a standard smartphone. In doing so, the solution allows businesses to implement contactless mobile access control without replacing all of their existing hardware.
According to Suprema, more than 100,000 people are already using mobile Airfob credentials. However, the company is planning to ramp up its marketing efforts to grow that number to 10 million monthly active users before the end of 2022. Suprema plans to supplement that with the release of a new (but unnamed) facial recognition product to capture more of the facial recognition market.
“Suprema and our partners have made a breakthrough during the COVID-19 pandemic by responding to the needs of the market with advanced technology and innovation,” said Suprema CEO Hanchul Kim, who took over the BioStar division at last year’s summit. “This year, Suprema will continue to closely cooperate with partners and focus our business on the most rapidly growing areas of the access control security market.”
Omdia recently named Suprema as the top supplier of biometric access control readers outside of China. Suprema’s readers have since been integrated with Genetec’s Synergis access control platform.
