Socure has announced the promotion of Matt Thompson to Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), following his successful tenure as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the company’s public sector business.
Thompson’s promotion comes at a pivotal time for Socure, which has expanded its services to more than 2,500 customers globally, including major financial institutions, government agencies, and technology companies. Under Thompson’s leadership, Socure’s public sector division has grown significantly, securing over 30 federal and state government agency clients and multiple higher education institutions. He has also played a large role in helping government agencies modernize identity verification systems to combat fraud, particularly during the pandemic.
“Being able to lead the next phase of growth at Socure is one of the greatest honors of my life and something I view as the capstone of nearly 15 years of building companies in this market,” Thompson said, adding that Socure’s solutions have become ever more important as the threat of fraud through digital channels has escalated. “No other company has solved this problem better than Socure and I will do everything I can to maximize the positive impact we have on our customer base and the markets we serve,” he said.
Before joining Socure, Thompson held senior positions at IDEMIA and co-founded ID.me, a leading digital identity network. His extensive experience in digital identity, combined with his military background as an Army Special Operations Officer, has equipped him with a unique leadership approach that emphasizes alignment, adaptability, and operational excellence.
In his new role as CRO, Thompson aims to continue Socure’s growth trajectory by expanding into new vertical markets while solidifying the company’s position in its core sectors, including government. He will report directly to Socure’s founder and CEO, Johnny Ayers.
Socure recently added a new Selfie Reverification feature to its document verification system, enabling returning users to verify their identity through a selfie comparison with their previously verified ID photo. This feature, which achieves a 99.9% true match rate within two seconds, includes advanced capabilities for detecting deepfakes and assessing age discrepancies, making it a robust tool against identity fraud.
The system conducts passive liveness checks that comply with Level 2 NIST PAD standards, ensuring accurate and secure identity verification across sectors like financial services, eCommerce, and government services.
