Signicat, the pan-European digital identity solutions provider, has appointed Emma Bauer as Global Chief Product Officer. Bauer, based in Stockholm, joins the executive team to scale Signicat’s Software-as-a-Service identity platform at a pivotal moment for European digital identity regulation, as eIDAS 2.0 and the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation reshape digital trust and identity verification standards across the continent.
Bauer began her career as a software developer before moving into senior product leadership positions in high-growth technology environments. In her CPO role, Bauer will execute Signicat’s future product strategy, accelerate time-to-market, drive innovation with AI tools, and ensure the platform meets diverse regulatory demands while serving varying consumer habits across Europe. The European digital identity landscape presents sharp contrasts: in the Nordic countries, eID usage is embedded in daily life, while Southern European markets require substantially different onboarding and authentication approaches.
Bauer takes the CPO seat shortly after the April 2026 launch of Signicat’s eID and Wallet Hub for eIDAS 2.0, the unified platform she will now be responsible for evolving to meet the regulation’s compliance deadlines. The cross-border scope of her mandate is illustrated by Signicat’s integration of 35 European eIDs, which connects its platform to the full range of national identity schemes enterprise customers need to accept.
Signicat has built its market position through eight strategic acquisitions. Bauer’s integration responsibilities include managing the capabilities from Signicat’s acquisition of Inverid for NFC identity verification, whose ReadID technology brought eIDAS High assurance chip-reading into the platform portfolio.
CEO Asger Hattel said: “We are operating a highly sophisticated, innovation-driven one-stop-shop proposition to our customers, solving one of Europe’s biggest challenges: cross-border digital trust. For this, we needed a well-reputed scale-up leader who combined strong CPO experience with unique technical roots.” Hattel added that Bauer has “the ability to push both shorter time-to-market, innovation, and new methods with all the toolkits the AI era has to offer.”
Bauer said: “Digital identity is the foundation of a modern society, but the varying consumer behaviour and impending regulations across Europe create an incredibly intricate puzzle for businesses to solve. Signicat has uniquely positioned itself to solve this by providing a unified platform that manages cross-border transactions.”
