SecurID Optimizes Identity Platform for Cloud Environments

SecurID has unveiled an improved version of its flagship identity platform. The updates are geared toward organizations looking to move to the cloud, and provide consistent identity coverage for cloud and hybrid cloud applications in addition to on-premises access control.

The most noteworthy addition is the new SecurID Governance & Lifecycle (G&L) Cloud solution, which will be released later in the summer. The G&L solution is a centralized management platform that makes it easy for administrators to figure out who has access to what resources, and to set permissions accordingly. The platform is scalable and user-friendly, and offers cloud support for all of the authentication options traditionally available to on-premises workers.

That means cloud users can take advantage of physical tokens in addition to device biometrics and the passwordless FIDO protocols. As a result, SecurID is able to deliver a unified access experience that lets employees use the same authentication methods at the office that they do when they are working remotely.

SecurID also analyzes user behavior to generate risk scores during each interaction, triggering a step-up authentication request if the risk level is too high. In doing so, it allows organizations to take a more dynamic security posture to prepare for more modern threats.

In August, RSA updated SecurID’s hybrid utility in an effort to adapt to the remote work environment that emerged during the pandemic. SecurID would later receive FedRAMP In-Process status in November, clearing the way for federal agencies and other government organizations that are interested in installing the solution.
