Sanitizing Mist Terminal Features Biometric, Temperature Detection Tech

Vivera Pharmaceuticals has unveiled a new sanitation station that is designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases. To do so, the BIOZONE sprays visitors with an organic sanitization mist that disinfects clothing and the surface of other personal belongings.

The mist is made of hypochlorous acid (HOCl), which is already used to disinfect wounds and control infection in hospital settings. Both the EPA and the FDA have determined that the mist is safe for humans of all ages, and approved it for use to maintain a sterile environment.

The BIOZONE also supports facial recognition and other biometric modalities, and can store custom profiles of individual users. The walk-in station uses temperature detection to watch for signs of fever, and can process as many as 300 people in a single hour. It is one of several new thermal screening products designed to track COVID-19 in public areas, though it is far more comprehensive insofar as it sanitizes each person while completing the scan.

“Safety in public spaces requires more than wearing a mask,” said Vivera Chief Medical Officer Stephen McColgan. “Reopening schools, offices, and venues means a high volume of people in high-touch spaces. A comprehensive approach is paramount.”

According to Vivera, each BIOZONE machine can be customized to meet the needs of a specific location. The device is intended for high traffic areas, and is the first product to emerge from Vivera’s new Medical Technologies Division. However, the company indicated that it is working with its partners to bring other solutions to the market.

“Expanding the ways in which we serve the communities we work and live in is our top priority,” said Vivera Sales VP Olivia Karpinski. “COVID-19 brought unique challenges to how we go about our daily lives. BIOZONE redefines how we approach public safety and public health.”

Vivera has moved forward with the deployment of BIOZONE stations overseas. The company is planning to bring the device to the US sometime in the near future.
