ROC Taps Former IDEMIA Exec as New CEO

Rank One Computing (ROC) has a new chief executive: the company has officially announced the appointment of B. Scott Swann as its CEO, effective January 4.

Swann is a former IDEMIA executive, having served as President and CEO of the company’s US-based National Security Solutions arm from June of 2017 to November of 2020. His employer before that was also a major name in the biometrics industry: MorphoTrak, LLC, where Swann served as VP of Federal Operations & Innovation from September of 2016 to June of 2017 after having been the firm’s Senior Director of Innovation since December of 2014.

Most of Swann’s career has been spent at the FBI, however. He spent 18 years at the Bureau, starting as a Mail Processing Clerk in 1996 and rising through the ranks to ultimately serve as the Special Assistant to the Executive Assistant Director for the Science and Technology Branch, a position he held from December of 2011 to December of 2014.

In taking on the role of CEO at ROC, Swann replaces one of the company’s co-founders, Brendan Klare, who had held the position since 2015 and will continue to serve as the company’s President. In a statement announcing Swann’s appointment, Klare was effusive in praise for the new chief exec.

“Scott will bring an immediate impact to our growth strategies and our ability to continue to put best-in-class ‘Made in the U.S.A.’ biometrics and AI software in our customers’ hands,” he said. “I have known and worked with Scott for over a decade, and he has the utmost integrity and is one of the most professional leaders I have ever engaged with.”

The appointment’s announcement arrives alongside news that ROC had been granted a US patent for its passive biometric liveness detection technology, and soon after last month’s announcement that Infinity Optics was integrating ROC’s biometric technology into its QuantumCrypt solution.
