Redrock Provides Palm Biometrics Tech for Q5id Platform

Q5id has integrated Redrock’s PalmID technology into its own identity verification solution. PalmID utilizes a standard RGB or infrared camera to authenticate users based on their palm prints or palm veins. The system is robust enough to recognize palms in a number of different orientations and lighting conditions.  

“We partnered with Redrock due to the difficulty in spoofing palm-print technology, its very high accuracy rate and the fact that our customers would not need to install additional hardware, such as fingerprint scanners,” explained Q5id Chairman and CEO Steve Larson.

Q5id is the developer of the multimodal Proven Identity Management platform, which debuted in January. The solution leverages multiple biometric modalities and other factors to verify the identities of users and enable secure transactions.  

“Q5id needs a solution that is secure, touchless and unique,” said Redrock Co-Founder Hua Yang. “PalmID outperforms competitive touchless technologies, such as face recognition, in terms of accuracy and reliability.”

Redrock has offered free PalmID software to essential organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic. HYPR has since started using PalmID to protect its cloud authentication platform. Redrock has also teamed up with the Chinese barcode scanning company FalconPro to develop potential hardware and software solutions for payments and public transportation.
