Xiaomi’s relationship with Fingerprint Cards continues with another integration of the latter’s biometric technology. Xiaomi’s latest smartphone, the Redmi 3S, features an FPC1035 fingerprint sensor.
It’s the same sensor model used in the original Redmi 3, of which the 3S is a modest upgrade. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3, launched last autumn, also featured an FPC1035 sensor. The China-based OEM is one of many now repeat customers of Fingerprint Cards, which has become a leading provider of sensor technology to the smartphone market. And this latest integration further builds FPC’s momentum in a busy week, with four other smartphone integrations from four different OEMs having been announced yesterday.
The integration also illustrates another ongoing trend: The use of Precise Biometrics’ Precise BioMatch Mobile algorithm software together with FPC sensor technology in mobile applications. This same configuration also powered the biometric scanning capabilities of the original Redmi 3 and the Redmi Note 3.
