Rank One Brings Biometric Surveillance Plugin to XProtect VMS

Rank One Computing (ROC) has released a new facial recognition plugin for the Milestone XProtect Video Management System (VMS). The ROC Watch plugin is built with Rank One’s top-rated facial recognition algorithm, and was designed to simplify various security and access control procedures.

In that regard, ROC Watch can be integrated into a broader security system, and can be configured to notify venue operators whenever unauthorized personnel are spotted in a restricted area. In doing so, the solution will help customers overcome the limitations of human review, since the automated solution can cover a greater area and can also process video footage more quickly if investigators need to conduct a review after an incident occurs.

ROC Watch creates an auditable log of events and visitors, all of which can be viewed through the Milestone XProtect Smart Client. That log includes names and metadata, making it easy to figure out who was where at any given time. Meanwhile, operators can use the Client to set up alarms, or to grant access to restricted areas when it recognizes certain individuals. 

“ROC Watch transforms situational awareness by providing accurate, real-time alerts when persons of interest visit your building,” explained Rank One COO and General Counsel David Ray. “Instead of combing through footage, security professionals can now respond to live events as they unfold and perform investigations from a baseline knowledge of all encounters.”

Interested companies will not need to purchase any additional hardware to realize the benefits of the new solution. ROC Watch arrives shortly after Rank One received a patent for its passive liveness detection technology, and several months after it released ROC Explore, a new laptop tool that can scan millions of faces and generate watchlists based on the results.

Captis Intelligence and Innovatrics are some of the other technology providers offering support for the XProtect video management system.
