San José-based Internet of Things network startup Qopper has announced the launch of two new products — The Occupancy Monitor, and the Temperature Kiosk — that look to help retail and commercial businesses safely reopen following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.
With the Occupancy Monitor, Qopper aims to provide businesses in physical locations with the type of data digital businesses can gather by capturing relevant signals from a physical space. This is accomplished by tracking bi-directional movement at entry and exit points by the minute, providing business owners with an accurate occupancy count based around zones within a building.
Qopper’s Temperature Kiosks for Touchless Check-Ins come equipped with thermographic temperature scanners to identify any individual who may have a fever, one of the symptoms of COVID-19. The kiosks also are also capable of facial recognition or QR code-based authentication as a form of access control for added security, and are compatible with Workforce Management Systems like Kronos for clock-in/
clock-out capabilities.
“The addition of Occupancy and Human Thermography products to our portfolio will improve Customer and Employee safety to better serve our customers,” said Qopper COO, Brad McGuinness.
Over the past several months the COVID-19 virus has spread to every corner of the globe, affecting almost every type of business on some level, and forcing many to close altogether. Governments everywhere have put lockdown and social and physical distancing measures in place to try and mitigate the spread of the virus. As time goes by the need for many of these business to find a way of safely reopening their doors to both employees and customers has become one of the most pressing concerns for the biometrics industry.
