Technology products company VPR Brands has announced a partnership that will see its Automated Infrared Body Temperature Screening Device — also known as VPR Verified — available for resale through Katom Restaurant Supply, Inc.
The VPR Verified solution is aimed primarily toward the food service industry and restaurants, as a way to allow those businesses to safely reopen following the easing of COVID-19 lockdown measures put in place months ago to slow the spread of the virus.
In the U.S., the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), along with some state and local governments, is recommending and requiring various measures regarding the wearing of masks as well as temperature screening.
“Katom is an industry leader within the restaurant and food service space; they have built a great company and a fantastic, easy to use, online ordering portal to serve their customers,” said Dan Hoff, COO of VPR Brands. “VPR Verified systems will now be available to all dining and food related businesses nationwide as they open back up.”
VPR Verified uses facial recognition to identify and log employees, while also being able to measure their temperature using infrared sensors and to notify managers if they are not wearing a mask or if their temperature exceeds an accepted range.
“The recent shift our company has made into the Personal Protective Equipment space during the pandemic has opened up new channels of distribution for our business and expanded our reach into the B2B world,” said Kevin Frija, CEO of VPR Brands LP. “There are more than 32 million businesses in the USA, all of which can benefit from our VPR Verified system,” he added.
With the ability to perform up to 600 temperature checks per hour, and the option to connect it to automated doors and locks, VPR Verified aims to be a complete access control solution for the food service industry in a time when business owners are increasingly turning to biometric technology to try and assure both employees and customers that they are taking their safety seriously.
