Princeton Integrates Biometric Tech Into EPAM’s Corporate Cybersecurity Platform

Princeton Identity and EPAM Systems have joined forces in an effort to make remote workplaces more secure. Under the terms of the new partnership, Princeton will integrate its face and iris recognition technology into EPAM’s broader corporate cybersecurity platform.

In doing so, the two companies will be able to deliver a Zero Trust security solution for the enterprise. Employees working for an organization with an EPAM setup will be asked to verify their identities through face or iris recognition when signing in from home. That scan can be carried out through a device’s built-in camera, or with a separate biometric reader that has been plugged into the user’s workstation.

The joint solution is designed to replace passwords and other knowledge-based credentials, which are more vulnerable than biometrics. It also provides ongoing identity verification during work sessions. The system continuously monitors employees while they are sitting at their desks, and will cut off the network connection and close any corporate applications if that employee leaves, or if an unauthorized user appears in front of the screen.

The biometric scans are encrypted to protect the personal information of registered users. Princeton and EPAM noted that data breaches are most commonly attributed to compromised personal information, making that information less reliable (and less desirable) as a primary authentication factor.

Princeton recently brought on two new executives to guide the company’s expansion into the healthcare sector. The company’s iris technology has also been integrated into Future Trend’s attendance management solution.
