Precise Biometrics has entered a new licensing agreement with a China-based fingerprint sensor maker. Shanghai OXi Technology will incorporate Precise Biometrics’ Precise BioMatch Mobile software into its future products.
At this time, Precise Biometrics hasn’t offered an estimate of royalty revenues that could be generated from the agreement, but in a press release announcing the deal Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson expressed enthusiasm about the contract, calling OXi a “vendor with a very innovative sensor technology.” OXi CEO Hong Zhu, meanwhile, praised the technology of his company’s new partner, asserting that “Precise Biometrics will enable us to provide a competitive solution for the biometric sensor market.”
While Precise BioMatch Mobile has seen integrations with a variety of hardware makers, the biometric algorithm software has widely proliferated through smartphone integrations via Fingerprint Cards (FPC). FPC sensors have proven highly popular among smartphone OEMs, and in a booming market that has led to considerable revenues for both FPC and Precise Biometrics.
