TrustGrid has named Brett Kelsey as its new COO, helping to position the firm as an up-and-coming provider of decentralized digital identity solutions. Kelsey comes to the firm after having served as President and COO of the cybersecurity firm Reveald Inc.
Founded in 2016 and based in Austin, Texas, TrustGrid has developed a decentralized ecosystem that leverages blockchain technology for secure and immutable transactions. The ecosystem supports W3C Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials (VCs), with the aim of giving end users control over their identity.
The company’s platform includes support for biometric identity assurance, most notably through its “vrtYou” solution, described as a “Mobile node with Hardware Root of Trust and unique Biometric binding controlled by user on their device”. TrustGrid argues that user authentication is “the weakest link in security”, and that it is best resolved through a decentralized approach to authentication credentials.
“By adopting distributed ledger technology (such as blockchain), authentication credentials can remain secure while users are provided an impossible-to-counterfeit digital ID card that can be used almost everywhere,” the company explains on its blog.
TrustGrid is also recognized for its compliance with international standards, having achieved certifications such as ISO 27001:2013 and ISO 9001:2015, which ensure the security and quality of its services.
The company serves various sectors, including financial institutions, educational institutions, and government agencies, by providing solutions for Know Your Customer processes, admissions management, and digital licensing.
“TrustGrid’s vision for a secure, interconnected digital future aligns with my long-standing commitment to solving real-world challenges,” commented Kelsey in a statement announcing his appointment.
Kelsey is expected to play a key role in advancing the company’s growth in the US market.
“Our patented solution is proven and ready to scale globally,” said TrustGrid founder and CEO Santosh Devaraj. “Brett’s expertise, reputation, and track record of success will be invaluable as we grow our US presence and continue to disrupt the tech space with our cutting-edge solutions.”
