Poland has opened a free test environment for organizations preparing to integrate with its European Digital Identity Wallet. The sandbox provides a demonstration mObywatel Europa app, test identity data and a web-based verifier, allowing participants to check services before production deployment.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs and the Central Information Technology Centre developed the environment. It is aimed at businesses and institutions that confirm customers’ identities or check information and entitlements as part of providing a service.
In its first stage, the sandbox primarily supports testing identification data and verifying that data through the web tool. Participants can assess technical connections and business processes, then report errors, suggestions and requested changes to the development team.
The ministry has invited organizations from finance, insurance, telecommunications, transport, education, healthcare, commerce and digital services. Applicants must review the participation rules, submit a form and provide the required documents. Access to the demonstration app and test environment follows successful review of the application.
Poland’s wallet is being developed within the mObywatel ecosystem under the EU’s revised electronic identity framework, known as eIDAS 2.0. It is intended to let a holder present selected credentials, such as identity, age or driving entitlement, rather than sharing an entire document.
Each EU member state is developing its own wallet in accordance with common European standards. The Polish sandbox lets service providers prepare for that credential-sharing model using test data rather than a public production wallet.
Poland has also taken part in large-scale European pilots. POTENTIAL, which ended in September 2025, tested uses including banking, SIM registration, mobile driving licences, electronic signatures and prescriptions.
The current APTITUDE pilot covers travel credentials, tickets and check-in, mobile vehicle registration, and payments and banking. Poland participates in three of those areas and leads work on mobile vehicle registration credentials.
Separately, Authologic has registered in Poland to issue electronic attribute attestations, credentials that can confirm particular information about a holder. Worldline and Lissi have launched a managed wallet hub for banks connecting financial services with European wallets.
Within the Polish sandbox, participant feedback will support further development of wallet functions and their integration with public and commercial services.
