Worldline and Lissi Launch Managed EUDI Wallet Hub for Banks

Worldline and German digital identity provider Lissi have launched a managed service that gives banks a single connection to European Digital Identity Wallets as financial institutions prepare for the next phase of eIDAS 2.0.

The Worldline Digital Identity Hub is designed to connect financial institutions with the growing number of certified public and private wallets expected across Europe. The companies say the combined architecture is live and that their engineering teams have begun onboarding the first financial institutions.

EU member states are required to make an official wallet available under the updated electronic identification regulation. Banks and other organizations that use strong customer authentication will subsequently need to accept certified wallets for identity, authentication and related services.

Worldline’s product page says banks could otherwise need to connect with at least 27 public wallets as well as a growing number of private offerings. The hub provides one integration point and is intended to absorb ongoing changes to wallet implementations and the EU Architecture and Reference Framework.

The collaboration combines Lissi’s work on wallet integration and digital onboarding with Worldline’s payment, fraud-prevention and authentication infrastructure. The hub connects directly with Worldline’s Access Control Server, allowing wallet-based identity checks to use the same fraud and risk controls that support card payments.

The managed service is hosted in private European data centers. Worldline and Lissi say this arrangement is intended to help financial institutions meet data-sovereignty requirements while shifting integration and maintenance work to the service provider.

Initial use cases include customer onboarding, login to online banking and payments initiated with an EUDI Wallet. Worldline also plans to support transactions that combine several verified attributes and actions under one customer authentication, such as sharing age and driving-license information while paying for a car rental.

The companies estimate that building baseline wallet connectivity internally can take 12 to 18 months. They say the managed approach can reduce implementation to weeks, while early customers receive access to wallet sandbox environments for testing customer journeys.

The service has been tested through EU Large-Scale Pilots. Lissi recently raised €3.5 million to expand its wallet connector and software toolkit, while other security vendors have joined cross-border EUDI Wallet pilots focused on banking and payments.

The launch turns those pilot integrations into a managed commercial offering aimed at banks that want wallet support without maintaining separate connections to each national implementation.
