German digital identity firm Lissi has closed a funding round of 3.5 million euros to expand the software that connects banks and other regulated businesses to the European Union Digital Identity Wallet, including a kit that would let a bank turn its own app into an identity wallet.
The round was led by the pan-European venture firm Ventech and joined by BM H Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen, alongside existing backers main incubator, part of the Commerzbank Group, and Ninepointfive Ventures. Lissi says the money will go into its EUDI Wallet Connector Suite, the product that plugs wallet functions into workflows such as know-your-customer checks, strong customer authentication, and credential issuance, and into a new software development kit. The kit is designed to let financial institutions embed wallet functionality directly into their existing mobile applications rather than sending customers to a separate app.
The EUDI Wallet is the phone-based credential every EU member state must offer citizens under the eIDAS 2.0 regulation, and a layer of intermediaries has grown up to connect it to the businesses that will consume it. Lissi participates in the WE BUILD consortium, one of the EU large-scale pilots testing that plumbing alongside vendors such as OneSpan, which joined the WE BUILD and Aptitude pilots. Nor is it alone in that middle layer, with Hopae Connect launching as an EU-registered eIDAS 2.0 intermediary serving the same relying parties.
Lissi says 90 percent of its customers come from the financial sector, including Commerzbank and the Belgian identity app itsme, and that a regulatory deadline is sharpening demand. The EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation begins to apply on July 10, 2027, pushing banks toward interoperable, eIDAS-compliant identity checks. Active in digital identity since 2019 and spun out of the Commerzbank Group in 2023, Lissi led the IDunion research project.
“We won the German Federal Government’s EUDI Wallet Challenge in 2025. Based on this experience, we are further expanding our EUDI Wallet Connector Suite and have started developing our own Software Development Kit,” said Sebastian Bickerle, chief technology officer and co-founder of Lissi. “This means that in the future, any banking app can be expanded into an ID wallet in no time at all.” Chief executive Helge Michael said institutions need solutions that slot into existing IT systems while leaving them full control over customer data.
