Plurilock Files Patent Application for Behavioral Biometrics-based Remote Authentication System

The Canadian behavioral biometrics specialist Plurilock has filed a provisional patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office. The application details a new continuous authentication method designed specifically for a remote work environment.

In that regard, the solution compares a user’s current behavior with past behavior in order to provide consistent authentication across multiple devices. When an employee is working remotely, Plurilock’s tech will analyze their keystrokes and other behavioral patterns to make sure they are exhibiting the same tendencies that they do when using a company machine. In doing so, the technology allows managers to verify the identity of employees, even when they do not have direct insight into that particular user session.

“The filing of our provisional patent application validates our intention to create innovative authentication solutions that are designed to prevent, and address security challenges faced by the enterprise customers that have a growing remote workforce,” said Plurilock CEO Ian Paterson. “As the world moves to remote work, we plan to develop more advanced continuous authentication solutions that can challenge the current industry standards while ensuring our clients’ workflow remains uninterrupted in and out of the office.”

Plurilock released a platform update for its enterprise authentication solution in December. The update reduced the amount of data needed to identify a user, and improved the platform’s Android and iOS functionality for people using Plurilock’s ADAPT multi-factor offering for step-up authentication on mobile devices.
