Paxton Integrates Suprema Biometrics Into Net2 Platform

Suprema’s biometric devices are now fully integrated into Paxton’s Net2 access management system. The partnership will allow Net2 customers to use Suprema’s face and fingerprint readers with an existing PIN or RFID system.

Customers that opt to install the Suprema Integration will be able to replace those legacy security modalities. The setup uses Wiegand to allow the Suprema reader to talk to the Net2 controller, thereby linking someone’s biometric data with their profile in the older system.

System administrators will be able to enroll new users with the Suprema devices. They will also be able to use the system’s Enrollment Helper feature to register new Net2 users without running Suprema Integration itself. All data is synchronized in real time, while the central dashboard makes it easy to add new devices and manage individual accounts.

“The integration of Suprema’s devices with Paxton’s Net2 is a great advancement that combines top class solutions in access control and biometrics,” said Suprema CEO Young S. Moon. “The new Suprema Integration with Net2 will allow customers to experience Suprema biometrics and strengthen security without having to leave the Net2 system.”

Paxton and Suprema formed a similar arrangement back in 2015, when Paxton integrated earlier generations of Suprema biometric readers into the Net2 system. Suprema has obviously expanded its portfolio in the years since, and recently unveiled a new Mobile Access solution that uses an app to turn a standard smartphone into a secure digital credential.    

Suprema has acknowledged that the COVID-19 pandemic has raised health and safety concerns about shared fingerprint readers. The company has consequently chosen to prioritize contactless security solutions like Mobile Access and its FaceStation 2 facial recognition kiosk. The latter was paired with a thermal camera in July to give it the ability to take people’s temperatures during the authentication process.
