Identity verification and authentication company Onfido has announced that it will be providing mobile authentication for mobile customers of multinational telecommunications company Orange in a new partnership.
The partnership will see Onfido’s biometric facial recognition and artificial intelligence-based technology used to remotely verify Orange Flex plan customers, allowing for a faster and more secure onboarding process, while helping to keep out fraudsters.
Orange was launched in 2019 as a fully digital telco, and its partnership with Onfido will further its goal of being a fully automated service. In addition to Onfido’s face biometrics solution, Orange will also utilize its document verification to enable the remote authentication and onboarding of new Orange Flex customers.
“Our vision is to become a digital-first telco offer and provide new experiences for our customers,” said Artur Stankiewicz, Chief Marketing and Digital Officer, Orange Poland. “Nowadays, customers are looking for solutions and services that are easily available – just the way they need them and whenever they need them, fully online. Onfido helps us bridge that gap, enabling us to know our customers in a fully online manner.”
To remotely onboard, Orange Flex users take a selfie and a picture of their government-issued ID, and Onfido’s AI technology then verifies their identity by ensuring the two pictures are a match. Customers will be able to use this remote authentication service for onboarding, changing or updating their plan, or to make payments.
“Telecos and consumers should no longer have to compromise on customer experience, accuracy and security,” said Reuben Sagar, Regional Director at Onfido. “In today’s digital age, users should be able to easily prove their real identity while knowing it is secure, which is why we’re pleased to be partnering with Orange Flex. Delivering access to digital services with safety and user experience at the forefront.”
