Nuance Releases Free COVID-19 Template to Simplify EHR During Crisis

Nuance Communications will be providing healthcare providers with free COVID-19 Documentation Templates to help them fight the pandemic. The COVID-19 Content Pack is now available to all Dragon Medical users, and is based on the coding and reporting guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

According to Nuance, the Template was developed at the request of the medical professionals that are currently battling the coronavirus. The add-on will allow doctors to generate electronic health records (EHR) more quickly, allowing them to focus on key information (including patient symptoms and risk of mortality) while mitigating the need to reenter the same data multiple times. Doing so will reduce the administrative burden on healthcare facilities and allow doctors to spend more time with patients as the number of confirmed cases continues to rise.

Nuance will also be offering free add-on licenses that will support telehealth and other services to help doctors treat more patients.

The free COVID-19 Content Pack is compatible with the Dragon Medical One, Dragon Medical Network Edition, and Dragon Medical Practice Edition platforms. It arrives shortly after Nuance partnered with Microsoft to bring Ambient Clinical Intelligence to its Dragon Medical portfolio. Other companies have begun to make similar offerings; Jumio, for example, has also made its software available for free for COVID-19 responders.
