Nuance Communications is now offering Dragon Medical One to healthcare organizations in Scandinavia. The company has announced that its flagship electronic health record (EHR) solution is officially available in Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.
The news is in keeping with Nuance’s ongoing European expansion efforts in 2020. The AI specialist has already launched Dragon Medical One in eight new countries in the first half of the year, with Sweden, Denmark, and Finland joining a list that already includes Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The platform was previously available in the US, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Dragon Medical One is designed to reduce the administrative burden on healthcare providers, and uses speech recognition to allow doctors to generate accurate patient records during an appointment. The solution helps prevent burnout amongst overworked physicians, with Nuance asserting that Sweden’s doctors have some of the highest levels of stress in the world, and that the pressure has only increased in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Relentless paperwork is not the reason why physicians trained for so many years,” said Nuance EVP and CRO Robert Dahdah. “With the international expansion of Dragon Medical One, we are accelerating the adoption of conversational AI to help clinicians worldwide focus their attention on their patients instead of the administrative requirements.”
“The ability to handle data efficiently is the biggest enabler for improved quality in healthcare,” added Microsoft Sweden’s Public Sector Head, Jennica Andersson. “Cloud solutions and AI automate processes and routines that free-up time for healthcare professionals.”
Dragon Medical One is compatible with a variety of different devices and workstations, and automatically gives doctors access to version updates through the cloud. The solution also leverages Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
Nuance has taken multiple steps to aid physicians during the COVID-19 crisis. The company first released a free COVID-19 documentation template, and later expanded its DAX platform to support telehealth applications.
