North Central College Adopts PortalGuard Access Control

BIO-key has picked up another client in the educational sector. In that regard, North Central College in Naperville, Illinois is the latest academic institution to adopt the company’s PortalGuard Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) platform for students, faculty, and staff.

With PortalGuard, North Central will be able to streamline its access management procedures. The platform comes with Single Sign-on capabilities, which means that users will be able to use the platform to gain access to all of their campus resources through a single login channel. Most notably, PortalGuard will support Microsoft Office 365, Blackboard, and Ellucian Colleague, amongst other on-campus applications.

PortalGuard can also be used to enable multi-factor authentication, and to minimize the IT costs associated with password reset requests. On that front, PortalGuard has a self-service reset utility that allows people to reclaim their accounts without sending a call to a manual help desk.

North Central College is one of 30 academic institutions that are now taking advantage of BIO-key’s IDaaS services. Those schools are spread across 12 states, and represent more than 2.5 million individual users. More than 200 academic institutions are BIO-key clients in some capacity.

The company has also been gaining ground in the public sector, and has provided identity services for multiple county governments in the first few months of 2022.
