“We have evaluated several options and NEXT Biometrics’ excellent sensor technology and performance have won us over.”
NEXT Biometrics has announced that it will be supplying fingerprint sensors for Newland Payment Technology’s Point-of-Sale terminals. Newland ranks as the top manufacturer of POS terminals in China and the second leading manufacturer internationally. The company will deploy NEXT’s sensors in a range of terminals, with sensor shipments slated to begin in the third quarter of the year.
“With millions of terminals deployed globally, quality, reliability and mass production capability are decisive factors,” said Newland CTO Mr. Shen. “We have evaluated several options and NEXT Biometrics’ excellent sensor technology and performance have won us over.”
“Teaming up with the global number two POS vendor is the perfect basis to further grow our Government ID business on a global level within the next few years,” added NEXT Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Alain Faburel.
The Newland deal continues NEXT’s strong 2019 performance. The company has already agreed to supply fingerprint sensors for Key Source International’s biometric keyboards and a new biometric smart card from WizCard. It has also made previous strides in the Point-of-Sale space through a partnership that will attempt to deliver Aadhaar POS technology in India.
NEXT and Newland opted not to disclose the full scope or monetary value of their arrangement.
