“NEXT has made considerable strides in India since receiving its Aadhaar certification, and has placed a particularly strong focus on Point-of-Sale terminals.”
NEXT Biometrics has partnered with the Shanghai-based SUNMI Technology to develop Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals for the Indian market. The P1 POS terminals will leverage NEXT’s fingerprint sensor technology, which was first certified for Aadhaar use in June of 2018.
“The P1 POS terminal is our first device to incorporate biometrics,” said SUNMI Founder Lin (Jack) Zhe. “The NEXT fingerprint sensor has been our deliberate choice because of its excellent reputation and proven installation base.”
“We are making good progress in expanding our network of business partners for Aadhaar-based applications,” added NEXT Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Alain Faburel.
NEXT has made considerable strides in India since receiving its Aadhaar certification, and has placed a particularly strong focus on Point-of-Sale terminals. The company has already teamed up with several POS specialists, including Telpo, Shanghai Basewin, and Wiseasy, all three of which are also based in China.
More recently, NEXT agreed to provide biometric sensors for POS terminals from TROIKA. That, along with the latest SUNMI news, suggests that Aadhaar payment products will continue to be a major component of NEXT’s biometrics portfolio, and that the company is still seeking out new POS partners for the Indian market.
