NEXT Biometrics Teams with Another Aadhaar-focused POS Tech Firm

NEXT Biometrics has partnered with another China-based Point-of-Sale specialist focused on India’s Aadhaar market.

Shanghai Basewin Technology Co. has a particular niche in the POS industry as a developer of original designs for Personal Digital Assistant systems to be used in handheld and POS terminals, particularly those used in finance, traffic control, and administrative law enforcement. As such, it’s likely to apply NEXT Biometrics technology to fairly specific segments of India’s growing Aadhaar market, which revolves around the country’s national ID system and its use of biometric identification and authentication.

Shanghai Basewin Technology has started integrating NEXT Biometrics’ NEXT NB 2023 fingerprint sensor modules into its solutions, with initial volumes having already been shipped.

In a statement announcing the partnership, Basewin CTO Steven Ding lauded NEXT Biometrics’ technology, calling it “a proven and trusted solution.” Ding added, “Reliability and technological excellence are key selection criteria for us.”

For NEXT, the partnership represents a growing focus on India’s Aadhaar market. The company teamed up with another China-based POS specialist targeting the market, Telpo, last autumn; and partnered with New Delhi-based POS specialist MobiOcean in February.
