“The order will see a thousand of the fingerprint sensors shipped immediately.”
NEXT Biometrics has a new customer in India. The company has announced that the client has placed an initial purchase order for its One Touch ID Finger Print Module.
The order will see a thousand of the fingerprint sensors shipped immediately. They will be integrated into biometric payment terminals as part of a “financial inclusion strategy”, NEXT explained in a statement announcing the order.
The news comes about a month after NEXT Biometrics’ announcement of an order for fingerprint sensors to be used in India’s Aadhaar biometric national ID program, suggesting that the company is gaining traction in the Indian market.
In addition to using NEXT Biometrics’ fingerprint sensors in its current payment terminal project, NEXT Biometrics’ latest client will also test the company’s fingerprint sensors for use in biometric payment terminals aimed at the international market; and NEXT Biometrics says that a successful initial launch should see additional, subsequent orders.
“We are pleased to announce this first commercial order from our highly valued business partner,” commented NEXT Biometrics CEO Peter Heuman. “This initial order will not have a significant revenue impact, but it is a proof-point of our customer focus, technology edge and perseverance in spite of the global Covid-19 challenges.”
