“In its latest announcement, NEXT indicated that its client is aiming to be a major player in an “upgraded biometric security program” with a national scope.”
NEXT Biometrics is moving forward with a $2.2 million FAP 20 fingerprint sensor order from an India-based OEM. First announced in February, the order was largely conditional on NEXT passing an undisclosed milestone. With that having been achieved, NEXT has announced that its order agreement is “irrevocable.”
NEXT appears to have taken some care to avoid revealing sensitive details about the order in its statement. Its client has not been named, but was previously described as one of India’s fastest-growing OEMs. In its latest announcement, NEXT indicated that its client is aiming to be a major player in an “upgraded biometric security program” with a national scope.
NEXT’s partner must now pass “a few additional steps” concerning government certification, after which a market launch is expected in the fourth quarter of this year.
“Passing this milestone gives us additional confidence and proves our competitive advantage with partners, in the world’s largest biometric market,” commented NEXT Biometrics SVP of Sales & Marketing Ulf Ritsvall. “We believe that our partners are set up to succeed with NEXT’s upgraded FAP20 sensors in the India Aadhaar market.”
