Neurotechnology Releases MegaMatcher 12 Biometric Platform

Neurotechnology has released the twelfth edition of its flagship MegaMatcher line of products. MegaMatcher 12 brings upgrades to all of the biometric algorithms in the portfolio, collectively improving the accuracy of the company’s face, fingerprint, iris, and voice recognition offerings. Each modality can be deployed on its own, or used in conjunction with other modalities for additional security.

MegaMatcher 12 can be implemented on-premises or through the cloud, and includes a much faster MegaMatcher Accelerator, in addition to enhanced versions of MegaMatcher ABIS and MegaMatcher SDK. In that regard, the MegaMatcher Accelerator Extreme edition is now able to match faces, fingerprints, and irises at a rate of 1.2 billion matches per second without a GPU, while still maintaining the same accuracy as previous iterations of the Accelerator.

“The MegaMatcher 12 line reflects several years of research and development, with improvements that make it easier to use biometrics at a large scale,” said Neurotechnology Director Irmantas Naujikas. “Our algorithms continue to achieve top rankings in independent evaluations – including first place in both NIST MINEX III and NIST PFT III, second place in NIST IREX IX, first place in FVC-onGoing fingerprint and palmprint verification.”

Neurotechnology’s updated fingerprint algorithm offers better liveness detection and a quality assessment feature that can determine when a scan is not conducted properly. Meanwhile, the facial recognition algorithm has better point and overall face detection, while the voice engine has augmented text-independent recognition capabilities.

The MegaMatcher SDK comes with palmprint matching capabilities, and allows companies to build their own biometric applications for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android and ARM Linux systems. MegaMatcher ABIS, on the other hand, is designed for large-scale public and private identity projects, while the MegaMatcher Accelerator is geared toward high-volume programs that are national in scope.

MegaMatcher 12 supplants MegaMatcher 11, which debuted in January of 2019. Neurotechnology followed that release with the addition of palmprint recognition in March of that same year.
