Lithuania-based Neurotechnology has once again attained a high ranking for its biometric technology in third-party testing. This time, the company says its proprietary fingerprint recognition algorithm demonstrated the best accuracy in the latest FVC-onGoing results.
First organized by the University of Bologna’s Biometric System Laboratory in 2009, FVC-onGoing is now a web-based, automated evaluation program for fingerprint recognition algorithms. Its FV-STD-1.0 benchmark is designed to evaluate one-to-one fingerprint matching systems, and uses a dataset of images acquired in operational conditions using high-quality optical scanners. It also offers a benchmark called FV-HARD-1.0, which uses a dataset of “difficult cases (noisy images, distorted impressions, etc.) that makes fingerprint verification more challenging,” as FVC-onGoing’s website explains.
Neurotechnology’s algorithm, which is featured in its MegaMatcher SDK, ranked as the most accurate fingerprint algorithm with respect to both of these benchmarks, marking another victory for a biometrics specialist that prides itself on its strong performances in third-party evaluation programs.
“With this top-ranked result in the FVC-onGoing and our top ranking in both the NIST MINEX III and PFT III evaluations, we are pleased to be able to call our fingerprint algorithm the most accurate in the world,” said Neurotechnology fingerprint recognition team leader Evaldas Borcovas in a statement announcing the success. “I am proud of our team for achieving algorithms with such high accuracy, and it is a testament to our company’s many years of dedication to the field of biometrics.”
In addition to fingerprint recognition, Neurotechnology’s MegaMatcher portfolio of biometric offerings also includes solutions for facial, iris, and voice recognition. The company offers 30-day free trials for new customers, while existing customers get the latest versions of its algorithms as free upgrades.
