Neurotechnology Provides Deduplication Tech for India’s Aadhaar Database

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has selected a Neurotechnology consortium as one of the three Biometric Service Providers for its Aadhaar national ID program. Neurotechnology will specifically provide UIDAI with face, fingerprint, and iris recognition capabilities, and help the organization identify and remove duplicate records from its system.

The deduplication tech will be delivered through Neurotechnology’s Automatic Biometric Identification Subsystem (ABIS), and will ensure that each citizen only has one Unique Identification number (UID). The ABIS will facilitate the issuance of the UIDs, and help verify them once they have been handed out to preserve the integrity of the Aadhaar system.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is Neurotechnology’s partner in the consortium. Tata is an IT services specialist, and acted as the primary bidder for the UIDAI contract. UIDAI currently has records on more than 1.3 billion people in its biometric database.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo used Neurotechnology’s MegaMatcher ABIS to purge 5.3 million duplicate records from its voter rolls back in 2018. Neurotechnology recently released the twelfth iteration of the MegaMatcher platform, as well as the eighth version of its SentiVeillance computer vision offering.
