Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new banking service that lets citizens make bank deposits using biometric verification through its e-Sahulat platform. The service represents a major step forward for Pakistan’s financial technology infrastructure.
The service works through more than 9,000 e-Sahulat franchises across the country, enabling citizens to make deposits into accounts at over 50 participating banks without visiting traditional branches. The expansion follows NADRA’s proven biometric verification capabilities.
The launch is part of NADRA’s ongoing technological advancement, which includes the addition of enhanced biometric features in identification documents. The organization’s biometric expertise, showcased at IDEAS 2024 in Karachi, was essential in creating this secure banking solution.
The service supports Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen digital identification systems and complements the national expansion of biometric verification to include facial recognition and iris scanning.
The service is especially valuable in areas with limited banking infrastructure, where e-Sahulat franchises often operate but traditional bank branches are rare. Biometric verification ensures security while making deposits simpler for users.
The e-Sahulat platform has proven reliable for delivering various government services, and this banking expansion strengthens its role in Pakistan’s digital transformation.
