“Local government agencies are facing cyber threats of increasing complexity and intensity, leading to heightened risk of a security breach. To minimize their risk of a security event, they need to deploy scalable security solutions that maximize financial and staff resources to deliver higher value and better protection despite budget limitations.” – Mark Cochran, President, PortalGuard
A municipal government is the latest customer to embrace BIO-key‘s PortalGuard identity and access management solution.
Officials in Durham, North Carolina, were looking for a password management solution that would boost the municipality’s internal IT security without burdening users and help desk staff. They opted for PortalGuard, integrated it with Office 365 and Active Directory in their IT operations.
The municipality is the latest in a string of clients announced by BIO-key over the past month that have embraced PortalGuard. The IAM platform was the proprietary solution of the cybersecurity firm PistolStar, which BIO-key officially acquired at the start of July, in part on the basis that it would offer synergies with BIO-key’s own biometric authentication solutions.
So far, most of the new PortalGuard clients have been academic institutions in search of a Single Sign On solution, but a Texas-based aerospace parts supplier was added to the list just a few days ago. Now, Durham is further illustrating the broad commercial appeal of PortalGuard.
“Local government agencies are facing cyber threats of increasing complexity and intensity, leading to heightened risk of a security breach,” commented Mark Cochran, BIO-key’s PortalGuard President. “To minimize their risk of a security event, they need to deploy scalable security solutions that maximize financial and staff resources to deliver higher value and better protection despite budget limitations.”
Cochran added that government entities tend to go through an extensive vetting process when selecting new IT solutions, further attesting to the appeal of PortalGuard.
