MWC 2016: Huawei MateBook Uses FPC Sensor

Huawei’s newest tablet features a Fingerprint Cards sensor. Announced at this week’s Mobile World Congress, the Huawei MateBook integrates an FPC1145.

The China-based OEM is taking aim at other big-name tablets with its MateBook, which runs on Windows 10. And Windows 10, of course, features the Windows Hello security apparatus enabling biometric user authentication, which is where the FPC1145 sensor comes in. It’s the same sensor that was used in Huawei’s Honor 7i smartphone, and continues a longstanding partnership that has seen numerous other FPC sensor models integrated into Huawei devices.

Commenting in a statement, FPC CEO Jörgen Lantto expressed his company’s pride in the integration, and asserted that “FPC1145 supports 360 degree finger rotation capability, fast response time and industry leading 3D image quality.”

For FPC, it’s another sign of the company’s continuing success in the mobile fingerprint biometrics market, with revenues based on sales of the device expected to contribute to the company’s 2016 revenue guidance of 7,000 – 8,500 MSEK.
