The GSMA has revealed the first details about the second Mobile World Congress Americas, including a change of venue.
While the inaugural MWC Americas made its debut in San Franscisco, year two will see the event move to Los Angeles, with GSMA Chief Marketing Officer Michael O’Hara calling the city “the entertainment capital of the world” in a statement officially announcing the event. Organizers have also revealed that this year’s MWC Americas will feature some major brands including Accenture, American Express, Ericsson, Nokia, Qualcomm, Samsung, Verizon, and more. Over a thousand companies, along with 25,000 professionals, are expected to participate in the event.
As with the upcoming MWC event in Barcelona, the Innovation City and NEXTech Zone pavilions will return, along with some new dedicated technology areas including an ‘IoT Zone’ and a ‘Drone Zone’. The event will also feature exhibition-focused ‘MWCA Tours’ dedicated to the topics of ‘Business Transformation’, ‘5G and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)’, ‘Emerging Tech’, and ‘IoT’.
The three main themes of the MWC Americas conference program, meanwhile, will be ‘Content, Media and Entertainment’, ‘the Fourth Industrial Revolution’, and ‘Innovation’.
The 2018 Mobile World Congress Americas will run from 12th to 14th, and will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
