Three of Mantra Softech’s fingerprint scanners now offer full support for the Windows Biometric Framework. The development makes the scanners compatible with Microsoft’s Windows Hello authentication system, and enables fingerprint-based biometric logins for people trying to gain access to Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
The compatible scanners are the MFS500, Mapro CX, and Mapro OX fingerprint scanners, the former of which is FAP 10-certified and debuted in late 2019. Mantra indicated that the update will provide developers with a unified design ecosystem that makes it easier to integrate Mantra’s fingerprint technology into Windows-ready biometric products.
“With this framework, it will be now possible for fingerprint device users to operate on a common management platform that will enhance the quality, reliability, and consistency of the user experience,” said Mantra Technical Director Hiren Bhandari. “We are currently in the process to make our other fingerprint modules compatible with WBF and soon we will be announcing that news as well.”
Mantra Softech is based in India, and currently provides fingerprint technology for multiple government initiatives. Most notably, the company’s fingerprint sensors have been used to track attendance in government schools, and to facilitate the distribution of food at fair price shops in Uttar Pradesh. Mantra has also outfitted the Vishakhapatnam Waltair railway division with a new temperature screening system to help combat COVID-19.
