Aware found another customer for its flagship Knomi platform. The company has announced that Marquis Software is now using the multi-factor authentication solution to verify the identities of offenders in Arkansas’ criminal justice system.
Knomi is specifically being used to make it easier for officers to check in with those who are on probation or out on parole. The platform offers both face and voice recognition on a mobile device, allowing offenders to complete the authentication process and confirm their identities with nothing but a smartphone. The solution will also record the time and the individual’s location to ensure that they are complying with the terms of their release.
Marquis deployed Knomi alongside its own InTouch mobile application, and has already used the technology to verify the identities of more than 10,000 offenders in the state of Arkansas. The mobile solution has negated the need for in-person checks during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We must have the highest possible security to ensure that the person checking in as the offender is, in fact, the offender,” said Marquis Sales and Marketing Director Ben Harrell. “The ability for Knomi to give us separate scores for face and voice recognition, and a fused score combining the two, gives us that peace of mind.”
In other news, Aware has upgraded the voice and speech recognition capabilities of the Knomi platform with the release of Knomi 2.11. The update comes several months after the May release of Knomi 2.6, which was the first version of Knomi to combine the company’s face and voice recognition technologies. The new version will improve performance and reduce friction for those using the platform.
“Managing digital identities without compromising privacy or user experience is key, and these voice enhancements help us to deliver on these promises in today’s evolving threat landscape,” said Aware CCO Rob Mungovan.
Aware recently released a separate update for the on-device Knomi D version of the platform. The company has also partnered with Gateway to set up an investor relations program.
