Major West African Industrial Conglomerate Deploys Iris ID Time Tracking Solution

A big new deployment has further cemented Iris ID‘s presence in the African market: The company’s biometric technology is being used in a new time and attendance system at five Dangote Cement manufacturing plants spanning five different countries.

In announcing the deployment, Iris ID emphasized the size of Dangote Group, a Nigeria-based industrial conglomerate with a staff of about 35,000 people, and annual revenues that exceeded $4 billion in 2017. The Dangote Cement time and attendance system will be used by about 30,000 employees across Nigeria, Congo, Ethiopia, Senegal, and Sierra Leone.

Iris ID’s solution replaces a previous time and attendance system based on facial recognition, and is far more effective, according to Dangote Group CIO Prasanna Burri. “Iris-based technology is not only contactless and more accurate but also faster than our previous system,” he commented in a statement announcing the deployment, adding later that Iris ID’s system “integrates seamlessly with the enterprise resource planning system at our Nigerian headquarters.”

The deployment’s announcement comes after last month’s news that GenKey had integrated Iris ID’s technology into its own biometric ID platform, further highlighting the firm’s growing prominence in the global biometric identification market.
