The FIDO Alliance has finally shared the list of keynote speakers for the inaugural Authenticate conference in June. The organization first put out the call for speakers when Authenticate was announced back in September. Authenticate will be FIDO’s first attempt at organizing a major industry event, and is scheduled for June 2-3 at the Motif Hotel in Seattle.
So who can guests expect to see during the conference? The featured keynote will be Dr. Whitfield Diffie, who is best known as one of the co-inventors of public key cryptography. There will also be talks with executives from Google, Yubico, and Microsoft, all three of which have already signed on as “Signature Sponsors” of Authenticate.
The representatives from those companies will be Mark Risher, Stina Ehrensvard, and Joy Chik, respectively. Risher is Google’s Senior Director of Product Management, while Ehrensvard is the Founder and CEO of Yubico and Chik is Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President of Identity.
“We’re excited to welcome our keynote speakers to the Authenticate stage to share their vision and experiences,” said FIDO Alliance Executive Director and CMO Andrew Shikiar. “These speakers each offer unique perspectives on the state of authentication today, and will provide the ideal kickoff to our program.”
The conference will address the latest authentication trends and the effect of regulations like PSD2, GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act. It will also highlight case studies and the types of security threats that organizations are most likely to face.
The World Economic Forum promoted FIDO’s passwordless authentication standards with a new white paper that was published during the organization’s recent annual meeting in Davos. And FIME was recently accredited as an official testing facility for FIDO’s Biometric Component Certification Program.
Authenticate is being held in conjunction with the FIDO Alliance member plenary, which will run from June 4-5. Discounts are available to FIDO Alliance members who wish to attend both events.
