The FIDO Alliance is taking one final look back at its inaugural Authenticate conference. The virtual event ended its six-day run on November 19, after completing more than 50 sessions for more than 3,000 registered guests.
Anyone who missed out on the live event can still catch up at the Authenticate website, where all of those sessions are now available on-demand. The sessions will remain on the event page until the end of the year before migrating to the general Authenticate and FIDO websites.
Those who do visit the archives will gain some of the information and tools they need to begin their own passwordless FIDO journeys. In that regard, they will hear from security experts that can break down the modern regulatory environment and the more technical aspects of FIDO integration, and from businesses that have already adopted FIDO’s strong authentication protocols. Those case studies involve major corporations like Microsoft, Google, and IBM, amongst several others.
During the event, Authenticate guests were able to speak with FIDO authentication providers at the virtual expo hall. The FIDO Alliance has also published daily recaps that highlight some of the key takeaways from each session.
“After years of increasingly severe data breaches and user login frustration, enterprises and consumer service providers understand that they need to end their dependence on passwords,” said FIDO Executive Director and CMO Andrew Shikiar. “The excitement and engagement in Authenticate showcased that organizations are ready to embrace a new way to provide secure access to online services and applications with FIDO.”
Next year’s Authenticate conference is scheduled for October 19-21. FIDO is planning to host the event in person in Seattle, assuming that the threat of COVID-19 subsides before the fall. Authenticate 2020 was originally slated for June, but was pushed back and then switched to a virtual format due to public health concerns.
