Jumio has launched its selfie.DONE reusable identity service across the Asia-Pacific region, extending a selfie-first verification flow previously introduced in Latin America and North America. Enrolled users who produce a trusted match can complete a new verification without scanning an identity document again.
The service compares a fresh selfie with identities in Jumio’s consent-based Global Identity Graph. When the system cannot recognize a person with sufficient confidence, or when its risk checks identify a concern, the user moves into a full verification process that includes an identity document.
Jumio says the graph contains more than 75 million legitimate and fraudulent identities and adds approximately 85,000 identities each day. Each transaction receives a new risk assessment rather than relying only on the result of a previous verification, allowing participating businesses to recognize returning users while checking for current fraud signals.
In deployments measured by Jumio, selfie.DONE increased verification completion rates by 20 percent, with as many as 60 percent of users completing a document-free selfie check. The service preserves a full document flow for people who are not matched or present higher risk.
Jumio introduced selfie.DONE in Brazil before expanding it across Latin America. The company later brought the service to North America, building a regional rollout around a shared identity graph rather than separate networks limited to a single customer or group of affiliated businesses.
Potential users in Asia-Pacific include banks, cryptocurrency exchanges, gaming services and sharing-economy platforms with know-your-customer or anti-money-laundering requirements. Bala Kumar, Jumio’s president and chief product and technology officer, said the company is targeting the region’s mobile-first services and demand for faster onboarding.
Malaysia-based financial technology platform Nimbura is monitoring the regional rollout and evaluating how selfie.DONE could apply to digital lending. Nimbura connects consumers with online lending and financing products, where identity checks are used during customer onboarding and later account access.
Jumio says it has processed more than one billion identity transactions across more than 200 countries and territories. Its wider platform combines document checks, biometric screening, liveness detection, machine learning and workflow orchestration for onboarding and continuing account monitoring.
